Thank you for a fantastic week at Dairy Cottage.
It was everything we hoped for and a brilliant base to explore the 7 Stanes mountain bike trails from.
The drying room/bike store was a real bonus after the inevitable wet muddy bike rides.
Thank you for making it one of our best holidays and being so welcoming. We will be back.

You will not be disappointed with this utterly stunning cottage. It is in an idyllic location and has every possible amenity you require for a relaxing stay. The bath is luxurious as is the full cottage. From under floor heating to a cosy large fireplace. This cottage is without a doubt the best place we have stayed in compared to at least 30 other cottages we have stayed in over the years. Ali and Jock were friendly and approachable, nothing was too much trouble. We shall be back for sure.

Ali & Jock's place is located an easy 12 miles north of Dumfries on a quiet single track lane adjacent to working farms. It has wonderful views across the Nith Valley to the rolling hills beyond. It's a very tranquil spot.

Dairy Cottage, being recently converted, has all mod cons and is really comfortable. The pressurised water system was a real treat, it felt very indulgent showering under huge shower roses. Needless to say extra showers were the order of the day!

Ali & Jock were great hosts, the popped around to see if everything was okay, then stayed on for a cuppa and chat. It was great to hear about the dairy conversion and their obvious enthusiasm for the property and the area shone through.

Thornhill is close by and convenient for basic grocery shopping, Dumfries for a bigger shop if you need it. While here we visited Multiverse at Crawick and recommend it. Kilnford Farm Shop in Dumfries was a good find for lunch and provisions.

An excellent place to stay for Dumfries an surronds

Dairy Cottage is incredibly well equipped and luxuriously furnished in a quite location.
Beds were very comfy and linen and towels were freshly washed.
Bathrooms were both very plush with rainfall showers and the largest having an amazing tub.
The closest town, Thornhill, is a 10 min drive away.
Ali and Jock were very communicative and made sure we settled in on the first night and gave us tips on nearby things to do, see and places to eat. There were also clear instructions for all the appliances.
Dogs are allowed, just not in the bedrooms which is perfectly reasonable.
Would highly recommend a stay here.

This cottage and its location have to be seen to be truly appreciated, no amount of pictures can do justice to the rolling Dumfries countryside or the fantastically appointed cottage. Probably the nicest place we've stayed. Ali and Jock and their passion for the cottages and their landscape rightly shines through. A quick word on how dog friendly the cottage is too; Debbie the dog loved it! Treats, blankets, drinking bowl and poo bags provided. Will definitely return.

Wow, what can we say? We had such a wonderful week here and didn't want to come home! Diary Cottage has been done up to a really high standard which makes it feel really inviting and luxurious. The kitchen has got everything you'd need, with a stunning view too! We've loved eating out on the patio seating looking out to the wandering sheep and listening to the birds in the trees. It's set in a beautiful location with the A76 close to get to for travelling out to local day trip destinations. Ali is really lovely - so friendly and really helpful (even arriving to save the day with a tick remover for our youngest daughter). We've stayed in lots of cottages in the past and this is the best we've been to and would love to come back soon.
